Robb Young is a fashion business journalist, author, luxury industry editor and strategic consultant.

His writing has appeared in The Financial Times, the International Herald Tribune, Vogue.co.uk, Newsweek, the New York Times style magazine “T”, Vogue Pelle, Vogue Gioiello, the Independent, the Guardian newspapers and more. He is senior editor at Luxury Society (luxurysociety.com), a B2B luxury industry news source. Between 2000 and 2001, Robb was based in Tokyo as fashion director for the culture magazine Composite and prior to that he was fashion features writer for Arude, a cult style magazine in New York from 1999-2000.

In 2002, Robb was appointed by the Swiss Textiles Federation to rebrand and reposition their annual €100,000 Swiss Textiles Award as the definitive authority on upcoming international designer talent. By implementing a nomination and jury system of the fashion industry’s most esteemed professionals, the award has gained outstanding recognition in industry circles. Laureates have included Raf Simons, Rodarte and Alexander Wang among others.

As a strategic consultant for Diptrics in Japan, Robb recruited international designer collections for distribution, negotiated exclusive contracts and oversaw branding strategies in that market for ten years between 2000 and 2010. Events that he has consulted for in the past include “The Allure of Pearls” conference at the Abu Dhabi International Pearl Festival (United Arab Emirates, 2006), Noovo International Festival of Fashion & Photography (Spain, 2007), Tokyo Street Pop (New York, 1998), and Takarajima-sha World Designers (Tokyo, 1998 & 1999).

Robb is regularly invited as critic, media delegate, jury member or lecturer to many fashion expos and events around the world. Highlights have included lecturing at a symposium at New York’s venerated Japan Society in 2001 as the fashion segment speaker for a multi-disciplinary design overview of ‘Tokyo Style’; a presentation given on working in the fashion industry at the Tate Britain through the ‘Tate Forum’ initiative for inner-city youth in 2003; being a jury member for the Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana’s Mittelmoda fashion award in 2004 & 2005; a lecture for IMG on fashion journalism at the Lakme Media Forum in Mumbai, India in 2006; and having been invited to collaborate with Suzy Menkes’ International Herald Tribune luxury conference as a content contributor to the Moscow, Delhi and Berlin edition reports (2007-2009) after attending as delegate to previous editions in Istanbul and Dubai.

In 2008, Robb was invited to 10 Downing Street by the former prime minister’s wife, Sarah Brown, as part her celebration of 25 years of supporting British fashion where a host of initiatives were announced. He was on the jury for the 2008 British Fashion Council (BFC) NewGen Award and was asked by the BFC to give lectures to British fashion brands on emerging fashion markets and marketing in 2008 and 2009.

A British citizen whose full name is Arianwyn Rhobbet Siarl Young, Robb was born in 1975 in the Thousand Islands border region between Canada & the U.S. He pursued international relations with a specialty in political economy at Syracuse University, receiving a Bachelor's degree one year ahead of schedule with 'summa cum laude' top honours and then completed an intensive course at the London College of Fashion in England. Based happily in London, he travels extensively around the globe in search of compelling news, perspectives, products and talent.
